RAC was established in 1985 as an agency for recruitment and promotion for
posts covered in Defence Research and Development Services (DRDS).
RAC makes available quality scientific manpower to different DRDO labs
for helping them complete their projects including mission mode projects
in important areas of technologies required for the Services. DRDO's
mission mode projects pertain to areas like missiles, electronics, life sciences,
naval systems, vehicles and armaments, aeronautics and many other
branches of engineering and technology. RAC addresses this challenge of tapping and
retaining bright scientific talent at various levels through various schemes
realising its core functions.
In order to evolve a transparent system with a high degree of credibility,
RAC engages eminent experts with requisite domain knowledge from academic institutes,
scientific organizations and the industry who are adept in assessing not only
the scientific and technical competence but also the personal attributes,
managerial skills, attitude and aptitude of the candidates. RAC is, therefore

ESTSPM
The project entitled “Effectiveness Studies of Techniques for Scientific Performance Measurement (ESTSPM)” is being carried out to continuously upgrade and bring more objectivity in recruitment and assessment processes leading to induction of talented manpower in the DRDO. The overall scope of the project is as follows: analyzing the efficacy of aptitude test for selection of scientist, assessing the effectiveness of job profiling / job functions in the recruitment of scientists, methodology for assessing multi-attribute scientific performance model, personality profiling and its application for decision support system for HRM, applicant perception towards personnel selection / assessment methods, and designing of a standardized bio-data format for DRDS cadre & analyzing the efficacy.

Decision Support System (DSS) for Human Resource Management based on Personality profiling of Scientists.

Project SANGRAH
RAC has undertaken a project titled “Digitization of Complete Selection Records”. The objective of the project is to digitize the complete records available at RAC for 1985 onwards, most of which are currently available only in paper/document form, for various recruitment and assessment schemes being carried out by RAC.
The project also includes development of a complete software package for an aid to retrieve and display records for custom based queries related to selection / recommendation made by RAC since 1985.
The project will help RAC move ahead with modernization and will also serve as a powerful tool for quick reference/retrieval, display, analysis & report generation.
