There are three levels of screening at different stages

  • At first level of screening, the proposals shall be reviewed by experts.
  • After first level of screening, shortlisted candidates will be called for second level of screening which will be technical presentations / exhibition at respective zonal centres. All the shortlisted teams shall be given cash award at the respective zonal centres.
  • For second level of screening, the shortlisted teams will make their own arrangement for travel & stay at respective zonal centres.
  • Winning 5 teams from each of the six zones will be called for 3rd level of screening at DRDO HQ, New Delhi to participate in Exposition and compete. The shortlisted teams will make arrangements for travel & stay at New Delhi. All the shortlisted teams shall be given cash award at DRDO HQ New Delhi.
  • At third level of screening, the teams are required to submit their detailed design report. Any team failing to submit the detailed design report shall be disqualified.

First level of Screening

Unsigned/Incomplete registrations forms and/or invalid technical proposals will not be accepted. (Pl refer Terms & Conditions) All proposals have to be submitted online. The valid proposals will be reviewed by a panel of experts. The list of qualified teams for second level of screening, will be published on website as per the schedule.

Guidelines for Screening at 1st level

Scope of Proposal : 10%
The team should clearly bring out the problem being addressed from the given list of themes with basic concepts and understanding.

Clarity of Solution offered : 25%
The team should bring out the detailed design in the form of sketches/block diagrams/ solid models/ animation frames etc. which illustrates their solution. The team should also bring out whether the solution entails concepts /ideation /modeling and simulation to realization. Weightage shall be accorded accordingly.

Innovation and Originality : 40%
The team should provide original and innovative ideas to solve the defined problem. Weightage shall be given based on novelty, utility, simplicity, cost effectiveness and user friendly approach.

Practicality/Realisability : 25%
The team should bring out the feasibility of realizing a working prototype based on the solutions proposed above. The details of realization shall include availability of the material /component/ process etc. which may lead to a prototype. Realizability of a working prototype shall be given due weightage.

Second level of Screening

All participating teams, qualified in the first level of screening, have to present any or combination of the following with respect to their selected theme:

  • Innovative ideas/ Concept through graphics
  • Concept/technologies depicted through 2D/3D models, simulations/animations /software application
  • Concept paper presentations
  • Mock Up/ Prototype /Working Model

The requirement for the mode of participation for the selected combination above is as follows:

Selected Method of solution proposed Requirement mode of participation at 2nd level of screening
Innovative idea/concept through graphics A *power point presentation/poster presentation
Concept/technologies depicted through 2D/3D models, Simulations/animations/software application A power point presentation along with simulation/animation supporting the solution proposed
Concept paper presentations A paper elaborating the approach and the feasible solution proposed
Mock Up/ Prototype /Working Model Mock Up/ Prototype /Working Model

Any one or a combination of the above may be exhibited and/or presented during second level of screening at the respective zonal centre.

Zone State included in the respective zones

All participating teams will have to present any or combination of the following with respect to their selected theme along with a detailed design report:

Selected Method of solution proposed Requirement mode of participation at 3rd level of screening
Innovative idea/ Concept through graphics A detailed *power point presentation/poster presentation
Concept/technologies depicted through 2D/3D models, Simulations/animations A detailed power point presentation along with simulation/animation supporting the solution proposed
Concept paper presentations A detailed paper elaborating the approach and the feasible solution proposed
Mock Up/ Prototype /Working Model Mock Up/ Prototype /Working Model
Hardware and/or Software Hardware and/or Software

Any team failing to submit a detailed design report will be disqualified. The evaluation criterion will be the quality & the evolution of the solution proposed from the second level of entry.

*The format of power point presentation will be as follows:
Oral Presentation: Each team would get 12 minutes for presentation followed by Q&A.

Note
  1. Poster has to be printed by the participating team for the interactive poster session.
  2. The hardwares /Protoytpe/ Mock Up/working models should be demonstrated physically during screening.
  3. Any software/Simulation & 2D/3D Models should be presented with live demonstration. Participants need to make their own arrangements for software application/platform for demonstration. Installation of any kind of demo application/software at organiser’s premises is not allowed. Teams will have to bring their laptop for such presentation of simulations/animations etc.
  4. Organisers will only provide basic computer for presentation. All presentations MUST be pre-loaded to the computer available in the room before the start of respective sessions.
